#18 Kymee's Rose Project

I am now seeing how big a project this is I am picking more difficult flowers so as not to get bored.
Picking the harder ones make me feel like I am not progressing but I do have to remember 22 roses ago I would not have even picked this rose to do. (sigh) so I guess I am progressing.

Anyway back to the brushes I did find a little cheat sheet on brushes. I did not share about the round I don't use it much but I know of painters that do a lot. I use a round when using water colors and my enamel paints for signs. I do know that there are different hairs. some include. Sable, Mongoose, Bristle, Badger, Ox, squirrel, and of course the synthetics. This applies to all kinds of brushes, and depending on which hair it will dictate the price.

So that is a lot right now so....

There are going to be so many roses I sure hope you all hang with me through this. I promise to share what I have learned.

Speaking of learning I need to finish what little I know about paint brushes keep in mind I really have only been doing this for a year, so I feel like this will be great for those that just started of course.

Another brush I use a lot is the flat I use this style brush when doing acrylics and oils, simple description is long straight bristles and flat on the top, I sometimes just use the same brush through the whole painting. With the flat you can use the brush at a 45 degree angle to the canvas to get your small and the tip of one corner to get the really small.

Are you bored yet or maybe I am not giving you enough detail.
just let me know

#16 Kymee's Rose Project.

Yay!!! I found out what charity I want to donate half of the money I make on this project it will be the make a wish project.

I can tell you a little more about brushes, a continuation of my last blog. I am not going to claim I am an expert on them but I will share more about what I have learned so far.

I talked about the short bristle brush that is called a bright now they have the same name for the brushes no matter what medium there is out there, so it is hard to know by the look what medium to use with what brush most of the time it doesn't say it on the brush. Another brush that is out there which I love to use for acrylics and oils is the filbert it has long bristles with rounded edges.
Cheap Joes Paint has specials on brushes you can get a lot of brushes for only 50.00 when it comes you have all kinds of brushes all shapes and sizes and brushes for all types of mediums, so it helps to know what brushes are what. I bought one of the specials when I first started and I am still trying to figure that out I am getting better. Ok more next week.

Please if you have more insight Please Please share.

Paint brushes come in all shapes and sizes and everyone of them has a purpose. the fun fluffy that are mostly natural hair with the short handles are made mostly for water colors. The stronger bristles with synthetic bristles are used for acrylics they can have short or long handles. Oil brushes come in natural or synthetic hair. me personally I like the natural hair brushes I am really liking the short bristles they are called brights. Typically they also have long handles, there are many more I will tell more next post.

#7 Kymee's Rose Project, The Morning After

To continue on how things went for me when I decided that I love to paint. I shared that things really happened for me when I took a workshop with Carol Marine. The reasons that that was such a great help was she started from the beginning. I learned the different types of brushes, you see there are different hairs that they use each use is for a different medium, there are natural and synthetic and every painter has there own preference. Brushes are not cheap, so it sucks but I think that you might try one then hate it and have to try again with another one. Even brushes other painters suggest might not be the brush that works for you. Whew a brush dilemma. more to come.

Beautiful Performance 20x20 Mixed Media

I started by first painting the yellow, then thought I would try the drip thing. After sitting for days in between because really I have no idea how to move forward except after living with it. I then put the music sheet on, well it was 3 days later and I saw the flowers knew those would fit. So here it is, a beautiful performance.

HMMMM Lets see In my last blog I start to tell what it was like to be a new painter. I really suggest workshops even those on line but the workshop in person are the best because you can ask questions and see live how to deal with stuff. The artist sometime goofs up so you are able to see how they are not perfect and how to resolve it. My first in person workshop was with Carol Marine and I would do a ton of them if I could with her she is really an amazing artist.
